KRIS DREVER: guitar, vocals, EAMONN COYNE: banjo, mandolin
Talented guitarist, singer and songwriter Kris Drever hails from the Orkney Islands. He has won awards both for his solo album Blackwater, and for his work with Aidan O'Rourke and Martin Green in Lau (Best Group in 2008, 2009 and 2010). He has a string of collaborations behind him, including work with Kate Rusby, Jon McCusker and Roddy Woomble. His acclaimed second album Mark the Hard Earth was released in 2010.
Dublin-born tenor banjo player Eamonn Coyne now lives in Edinburgh. He learnt his playing from a variety of sources and is a member of the younger generation of Irish musicians. He has performed and recorded with, among others, Salsa Celtica, Siobhan and Tommy Peoples, The Wrigley Sisters and Eileen Ivers. Eamonn Coyne plays traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Cape Breton, America and beyond.
"The clear, earthy tone of his four-string banjo amplified the effect of his sharp picking, while Kris Drever 's percussive chords and driving bass runs kept feet tapping." HALIFAX HERALD
DEAN OWENS
New York Hummingbird is the fourth solo album by acclaimed Edinburgh-based sing-songwriter Dean Owens. Produced in New York and New Jersey, it features a host of local musicians and forms a compact, concise, deliberate, focussed and refined album of quintessentially British pop, comparable with Prefab Sprout and Aztec Camera - timeless, catchy, effortless, but emotive.
